Alicante Airport (El Altet)

Alicante (El Altet) Airport is the major airport in the Costa Blanca region of Spain.

The closest hotels are in the small town of El Altet which is around 5 minutes by car from Alicante Airport. Elche is a larger town with many hotels, and is around a 10 minute drive from the airport. Elche is also a great place to spend a few hours to visit the World Heritage Elche palm plantations planted by the Romans, and now the largest growing palm area in Europe.

Murcia Airport (San Javier)

Murcia Airport is much smaller than Alicante Airport, and is located on the Costa Calida coastline around 25km south of Murcia. The airport is also located close to the La Manga Resort.

The Murcia region is popular during the winter months due to the climate, with temperatures regularly reaching 16-18 degrees during the daytime with plenty of sunshine. The Costa Calida attracts many golfers during the winter months due to the excellent courses in the region.

The Alicante/Murcia region has an excellent all-year climate (according to the World Health Organisation the Costa Blanca is one of the best in the world).

Alicante/Murica is a popular winter destination for walking, golf, fishing, cycling and other outdoor pursuits. The winter climate is similar to late spring in UK, but with more sunshine. In winter temperatures typically reach 15-18 degrees Celsius maximum in the middle of the day, but nights can be cold.
